River Medina oyster dredging argument, 1872

Medham is a lovely spot, I used to cut through there on my bike on the aay to work.

Interesting that Isle of Wight was in the county of Hants.

Not sure I'd eat oysters from the medina now, it rises 100 yards from us, I've seen what runs down the road.

I wonder if the good mayor of Newport was from the brewing family of that’s name and hence the need for so many oysters. I believe the commissioner’s firm named was trading in Newport when I last looked -used to have an office down an alleyway as Buckle &Drew I believe. I haven’t frequented the Ship and Launch inn but the pubs of east cowes don’t seem that inviting apart from the lifeboat but maybe I’m just not local enough.

Oysters are obvously back as I have seen an Oyster dredging boat working both the Medina and Fareham Creek recently.
