I see they have just issued warnings to householders in Wargrave and Shiplake.

We were down at Val Wyatts on Saturday and noted the furthest downstream pontoon was submerged and the others were within an inch or so of being under. Lines looked ok on the boats still in the water. However the best part of a tree floated past at that moment so would not have liked to have been exposed on a pontoon.

You mean this picture

Lifeboat has just this minute come back from retrieving a cruiser off our weir.

All tied up safely to the layby , will trace owner in the morning.

A happy ending.

There is a sunken narrowboat in the vicinity of Godstow Bridge ...... not sure it's blocking Godstow Bridge.

Lots of boats have come adrift in the last few days , mainly on the upper reaches.

Not sure I'm reading this correctly. The current level of 0.76 suggests a fall - both in the 'test tube' graph and from memory, (because I think it was 0.8ish this afternoon). But the 'last 48 hours' graph doesn't show a reduction:

http://www.environment-agency.gov.u...Sensor=U*RegionId=9*AreaId=21*CatchmentId=145

I don't intend this to be purely a selfish post about my area - more using that data to show that they don't seem to add up.

Thanks.

The resolution of the chart isn't enough to register such a small amount

To give you an idea , 0.80 is roughly 32 above , 0.76 is about 30/31 above

I've been looking at these for most of the day , and dont recall seeing a 0.8 at St Johns.

This is the link you want

In your area , Hannington Bridge is the one to watch , and that is still pretty high .

There is a lot of water still to find it's way into the river system , i don't think that levels have peaked yet , certainly not by reading the various flood warnings issued. They all state that the river is expected to continue to rise slowly over the next few days.

River Levels

Hi,

How soon (assuming the rain stops) will it take for the river to become suitable for navigation again - either clear or yellow 'stream decreasing'?

We're hoping to bring our barge back to our mooring this side of christmas from MSO marine at Brentford.

Thanks,

Simon

Where is your mooring ?

Are you aware that Penton Hook Lock is closed until 22nd December ?

Might be a bit later bearing in mind the stream conditions.

Yes thanks we are, I asked the Lock Keeper at Penton Hook on sunday, but he thought they would open on schedule. He also said that although the river was high, it would need sustained heavy rain to 'maintain' high levels.

From what others have said, it'll be a couple of weeks to get back to normal (assuming no more torrential rain)

Just got told today that as the Thames responds to flood water slowly it will be at least two days before it reaches it's peak flow down near London.

Good luck with the lock closures!
