I am currently in Richmond on another boat, hoping to get to Brest for the traditional boat affair at the weekend. Shikara is at home and not on the risers so I would appreciate warning if the stream and levels get silly.
was looking dead normal up at the massive this morning (unlike at Richmond as I came over, very high tides over the footpaths), the amount of rain we've had shouldn't affect the levels dramatically (heavy but short lived, causes big puddles and looks bad!), but will let you know if it does rise dramatically - went past Shikara on Saturday (for a game of tennis in your little local park) - all was well!
It's due to rain all day tomorrow, is there any sign of the EA emptying the river in readiness?
Weather conditions are very similar to this time last year!
Does anyone know if the EA are setting up their River Conditions text service like they eventually got going at the end of last year's floods?
If SWMBO gets nervous u're always welcome with us /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gifif you can get through the bridge or Mums /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif(by prior arrangement, you know what that clubs like!)
Just managed to squeeze in on the park at Marlow after running down from Goring today. River running a little but not too bad although word is yellow/reds may be creeping down from further up river and a bad days rain tomorrow may change things somewhat.
Current info line statement below. We aren't currently planning on using the text messaging service but if you end up having difficulties and need to contact EA directly, the number for my team is on the back of your licence.
Yellow Warning Boards notifying stream increasing are being displayed from St Johns to Clifton inclusive. Users of unpowered boats are advised to refrain from navigating on the river upstream of these locations in these conditions.
Due to recent rain the river levels are increasing and the weather forecast is for more rain throughout the week. More Yellow warning boards are likely to be displayed by Wednesday if the maximum forecast rainfall is received by mid-week. Red warning boards may be displayed in some areas.
