Shiplake Lock, head and tail gatesMonday 27 June 2016 – 7:30am to 10amDiving Works
Between 7:30am to 10am boats will be unable to travel through ShiplakeLock. This is due to essential maintenance work being carried out by ourdiving team. This will prevent an unplanned breakdown and closure at amore inconvenient time which could result in a longer obstruction topassage.
Please keep clear of any safety boats until the lock reopens.

What unusual terminology? "This will prevent an unplanned breakdown and closure at amore inconvenient time which could result in a longer obstruction topassage". Do you think they meant "This is preventative maintenance'? I know what they meant mind :-).

Yes :D:D The opposite I suppose would be "a planned breakdown at a convenient time" !

As I made something of an issue about the importance of planned preventative maintenance at the last TNUF meeting I am grateful that such action is being taken. If "Self Service" is likely to be a more frequent experience, as seems likely to be the case, it is absolutely essential that lock mechanisms and public power are reliable.
