Good to know for the next time, thanks. We have always found Fox's to be very friendly and helpful. We launched a boat there a couple of years ago and they were excellent.

they now use the "Red & Green" Disc system so you now if a berth is free to use & listen-out on Ch 80

Slight hijack here, it amazes me how territorial people get when they are either out of their usual berth or in first at a rafting up type place.

Have these people never arrived anywhere after a long passage and hoped to find somewhere to tie up?

In my old marina, before moving to my swinger, on departure you were asked in the lock when you were returning, so your berth could be available to visitors. The amount of people I met who always told the staff they were back the same day, knowing they were out for a few days amazes me.

This is maybe why we are where we are at with the short term berths.

That's a good point. I'd personally be quite happy if someone used our berth while we were away. That was kind of a point about the Haven marina. It would be a fair bet that a berth holder would be out for the day and we could have moored in his berth for an hour. The Haven is also behind a lock, so this system would be easy enough to implement.

A kind of online almanac for all of our local marina's, with details of phone numbers, availability of temp moorings and any other useful information.
