We have been visiting Burnham for some ten years. We call down for a drink in the Swallowtale and a curry with friends. It is not exactly the most difficult bit of navigation but it makes a pleasant evening.
But not any more. Today we got stung £45 for one night. It was about £28 when we first visited. That's a 50% increase in charges over ten years when inflation has been running at 3%. Boating is discressionary spend. At times of economic difficulty people stop boating and the are a lot of empty berths in the marina. No more visits to Burnham and they can have 100% of nothing from us in future.
