Rinnai REU 58E Gas water heater

I have one of the above which needs the heat exchanger descaling, which I tried to do but made it worse. I know Paloma Bob offers an exchange (innards) at £150 + £15 postage. I am wondering what alternatives you guys have found as price wise it would be worth considering something new. Hamilton Gas products offer some Cointra products but out of stock plus some Ferroli boilers.
Also if you look on Alibaba you can find all sorts of gas water heaters, I guess not compliant with many regs, but any thoughts welcome.

Just for the record I sent my Rinnai heat exchanger which was blocked to Paloma Bob who sorted it for me and returned for £50 in less than a week..
The service was fantastic and included 2 progress reports (it was well and properly blocked) , highly recommend.
