Following just received from EA:
Dear customer

Please be aware that a fallen tree is currently blocking navigation on the River Thames 100 meters upstream of Tadpole Bridge near Rushey Lock. Our operations team are making their way to site with the necessary equipment to remove the tree and we are expecting navigation to be fully opened later this afternoon. A further message will be sent to confirm when it is clear.

We apologise for any inconvenience and are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. This information is also being displayed on lock notice boards in the area.

Thats the first one of their emails I have received since going on the list, seems pretty quick notification :)

However the signature has triggered my OCD: "The maximum speed limit on the non-tidal Thames is 8 km/h or 4.9 mph or 4.2 knots. Look behind you, don't make waves!"
Rounding correctly its 8kmh/5mph/4.3knts, grrr...
 
I was suitably impressed.
Doubtless (in general) due to B1's hammering (?) at EA's door - saying please keep 'us' informed.
Now it's happened (well not absolutely complete - but that may be due to other forces). Lots of emails telling boaters what's happened - happening.
This latest was the best - Rushey, not exactly mainstream, but important - of course - to local boaters.
Tree down then,
Tree fixed.
It's the last that's impressive - we're not always told whne the fault has been fixed.
