If I go to Pin Mill or onto a mooring somewhere I will be needing a rigid tender.

Got a 2.5hp 4 stroke with the new boat (and a zodiac 2.4m inflatable plus the Avon from Karouise) but think something rigid would be better for slipway / beach launching regularly.

Before I make a trip to Andy Seedhouse or ebay what do I need to think about? Stability in water, light enough to handle ashore alone. The Walker Bays look nice but a lot of £££. Don't want whatever I get to be too attractive so when I get back to mooring it has gone (OK maybe I didn't tie it on properly!!)

Thanks as always

No. 32 is available.

She is at home near Cambridge.
Can't find the rowlocks at the moment.
Outboard not included.

There is also the axle of a launching trolley
The handle loop came off.

PM if you are interested

I found 32 was a bit small and needed a couple of trips if there are more that 2 people to get out to Sirenia.

George the Harbour master at Ramsholt offered me his old 10ft GRP clinker look dinghy.
Here she is getting some needed TLC at home.

She came with an old road trailer with rusted out wheel bearings.
The dinghy is quite heavy to get back on the trailer single handed but I have a block & tackle system and have fitted rollers in the trailer to make it easier.
She has not got a name yet - could be George.

Looks like it should be called Groyne Strayn.

We have tried rigid and inflatable. The rigid had less carrying capacity and was less stable than the inflatable. The rigid also meant that a trailer was needed and so double the too-ing and fro-ing to get started. We found the fastest answer was a flat bottom inflatable with transom wheels attached. Initially we used dinghy dollies but found them rather 'rattly' on the hard down to the waters edge a lower states of the tide. Instead I knocked up a stainless steel set using wheels from an electric granny trolley. By the time I'd finished it cost a bit more but because the tires are pneumatic it was a lot easier on the gear. I do have the old set of dinghy dollies, if you want to make an offer pm me.View attachment 37551
