Yesterday I was at the helm of a very nice Sunseeker Manhattan 48 heading out of Chichester harbour. There was a fair bit of smaller traffic i.e. dingy sailers and windsurfers. As we came past the witterings a windsurfer approached from the starboard side and had definate right of way. HOWEVER myself and the owner are both keen windsurfers and decided not to change course. The windsurfer was fine with this and sailed on past and even knodded. Imagine if that had been a dingy or yacht? There would have been hell to play!!!

Re: tellus more bout the sunseeker

aha so what was that like eh? Are you buying it?

Perhaps the windsurfer was nodding obsequiously as a welcome change from alternative Sunseeker strategy which is to run them down, go back and help out by slashing them a bit with the props, and on no account taking off the Raybans.

I have got the right of way to cross a zebra crossing, but I don't close my eyes and rush out from behind a parked vehicle hoping that the trucks will stop.

I do wonder if some dingy sailors have a death wish. Sometimes several of them seem to setup an ambush for me - scary

Er, just out of interest, why did you and the skipper decide it was'nt worth bothering to change course? How would you have explained it to Plod if said windsurfer had smacked into the side of the Manhattan, been sucked under the boat and minced through the props?
BTW lets have the lowdown on the Manhattan. What's it like, then?
