Ok this might all sound a bit basic/numptyish but searching online has only confirmed some of my rigging fears. I inherited all the fittings on my MAB when I bought it and unfortunatley the mast was not rigged.
The yard put the mast up but with no tension in the rigging. I am familier with how to set the tension ie using a loos gauge etc (seldon guide) and have got the mast straight and shrouds tightish.
My concern is over what hardware there should be. I have open turnbuckles but no nuts or other devices other than a cotter pin to keep in all in place. When adding tension I either end up loosing one end when I tighten the other, adding a cotterpin to prevent this ends up with inducing twist or eventually bending the pin. I suspect this isn't the best set up, any suggestions as to what should be there, am I just being hamfisted?
