I need to rent out a rig tensioning gauge to reset my shrouds and (Single) back stay to the correct tension. I can see an old thread on here but the links no longer work and the information will be too old.
I had to reseal the chain plates on the starboard side. I could see that the previous owner had attempted to do this and failed so they may have already been wrongly adjusted. I used tape to mark the shrouds so I could put them back the same but after the job was completed and water ingress was sealed successfully, the mast was bent over to Port between the upper spreaders and the mast head. To straighten the mast up, I had to tighten the shrouds on the starboard side past my tape marks and I can tell from the tone that it is too tight on the starboard side. The shrouds are 7mm diameter.

That being said, I need to check and adjust the rigging to the correct tension. I need to buy a new 4 man life raft on top of usual expenditure so buying a tension gauge for a single use isn't an option and to get it adjusted by a rigging company would cost as much as buying the Spinlock device too.

Surely someone in your club, or on your marina, or around will have a rigging gauge.

You actually can manage without quite well. Riggers often don't use them.

Look in May's pbo. Very good article covering rig tuning.

It'll be £5.25 well spent.
