I rebuilt some old ones that were with the boat. They have iron strapping and I rebuilt them with ash cheeks.

I don't think those will be strong enough.
Don't forget that my boat is epoxy/wood and is very stiff. So the loads are likely to be much higher than you will get on yours.
The calculated breaking strain required is 5 tons. I think those blocks are good up to may be 1 ton.
