can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced rigger. I have to completely rerig my boat which is based on the Orwell and the company based at my marina are showing little interest.
Thanks

I used Atlantic Rigging for the same job last year, plus new genoa roller furling. They are a one-man band and the one man is Mike Vester who is based at the Tidemill marina in Woodbridge. His phone number is 01394 610324, mobile 07887 955817.

At the time I was re-fitting in Woodbridge so it was the case of choosing the most convenient person, but I imagine he will do anything in the area. I'm based in Ipswich Haven Marina now.

Re-rigged my Sadler 26 this year and I found big Nige at Rig Magic to be excellent. Swift, lower quotation than Atlantic at Woodbridge and then came in UNDER quotation. When did you last get charged less than quoted in the marine industry?

I'm based in Woodbridge at the moment and have been told that Atlantic is a bit pricey and am going to use Larkman's I think. I don't know if they work remotely, but as I expect to be in Granary, next door, apparently they'll go there.

Try Z-SPARS at Hadleigh - I had some rigging & lifelines from them a few years ago and they were the cheapest around, but probably only OK if you can take the old rigging to them or give them the dimensions. Give them a ring, sorry don't know the number - look on google

Er, Orwell... Ipswich... Fox's. Despite their sometimes gold-plated reputation, I've found them to be very keen on price and unsurpassed for service.

Regards, Mudhook.

I can second Z-Spars. Called in there earlier this year, uncertain of exactly which part I needed & they let me take one to try, only charging me when I called to say it fitted! Marvellous service. Not the easiest place to find, but address & details at their website.

Nige at Rig Magic just did our ketch (and yes, I'm still recovering from the whole exercise!) - we did quite a lot of comparison shopping and given what we wanted done, Rig Magic were very compettiive, and then v obliging with a few extra difficult bits - not least that someone had siliconed the wires into the mast, so replacing an aeriel turned into a total nightmare job.

If you feel capable of organising the mast stepping, and re rigging yourself then Z spars at Hadleigh are v compettiive for the parts, but we felt unable to do that bit on our own/with friends and were fortunately able to pay for it.

You don't say which marina you are based in. We are in Ipswich Yacht Haven and went down to Levington for the work, motoring back to our berth after the masts came out, and then back down the river again shortly afterwards.
