Gave this a go when we were there July 2013.
Bit mixed really.

Yes it's expensive. Fish was beautifully cooked and chips not bad but not really not that much better than a top notch normal chippy. Fish was not massive but nice light batter.
Nice mayonnaise type stuff as well.

His wines for me don't really go with fish and chips and were overpriced.

Service was attentive and friendly.

Would we go there again ? Possibly , but the whole experience was strangely antiseptic and seemed to be lacking something somehow. It was a bit close to an overpriced production line.

My thoughts entirely!

Also whoever cooked the peri-peri prawn starter has never been anywhere near Portugal / Mozambique / Macau etc.
Neither have they read a cookbook about it.
Or even met anyone who has ever eaten a decent plate of them.

I visited my Dad in Falmouth a few years ago and he asked if I'd like to go for steak and chips, or to Rick Steins. I chose the latter,as you don't get the chance every day. Very disappointed with a nothing special fish and chip shop. Went for a steak next time I visited - excellent!

You should have gone to the Harbour Lights above the Quay, better F & C and half the price of Rick Steins, see the TA reviews - many others agree
