Hi,

Just a quick question. On the bank holiday weekend at the end of August I have a photography course in Richmond on the Saturday so we thought we'd take the boat up on the Friday and then come back on the Sunday. Does anybody know of some good moorings for the Friday night until the Sunday morning, close to Richmond centre but safe and, if possible, quiet.

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.

There are no public moorings in Richmond , due to it being half tidal.

You would be very welcome to moor the boat in Teddington Lock Cut for the period you want. You can get a bus ( R68 ) from the top of the road that will take you to Richmond town centre each morning ...

No , were not that advanced i'm afraid.

We don't take bookings for the moorings , but our layby is extremely long. If you were setup on the friday before the tide , you'd be pretty certain ( 99% ) of getting a mooring ( although we can't guarantee it ) ...

ABH is our busiest weekend.

I used to moor a boat close to the Three Pigeons, back in the mid 80's.
Has that option now gone?

Not quite sure where the three pigeons is ?

Only town centre moorings are owned by Turks and the WPSA. There is no pleasure boat mooring.

There are plenty of mid stream permanent moorings , but no visitor moorings that i know of. Happy to be corrected though.

Your knowledge is greater than mine.
My mooring was away from the shore and was part of a boatbuilders area.
The Three Pigeons was / is at the very end of the buildings that line the Petersham Road, in other words it is the Pub closest to Ham House.

I do believe it had a fire though in the 90's.

Ah , i know where you mean know.

The old boathouses are now £1m+ houses. The moorings are still there, but they aren't temporary moorings AFAIK.

Should have guessed I suppose, massive development potential :)
Pub as well?

We picked up a dog from Old Windsor (Battersea outpost) today and I loved the river 'up there', sat with our new friend and watched cabin cruisers, canoes and a Narrowboat smooching along.
Very enjoyable.
