The PLA Charges committee have agreed to reinstate a fee for the use of Richmond Lock possibly from Jan 2010. I do not know at what rate this will be yet.

According to the ATYC web site:
Richmond Lock charges £5.00 per day (out and in again same day)

Thanks for that. I doubt if that ammount would stop the abuse the staff have been getting though.

Richmond lock are charging currently ???

News to us !

Thought it was still free to private boats and there was a charge for passenger boats ?

If they are , i will have to put a note on our wall advising our staff to let people know.

Nah, being there to work the lock would cut down on abuse, as would working the lock even though there is "only" 45 minutes until the sluices move. A head and tail waiting pontoon would be a major step forward as well:-)

Last time I used it about 3 years ago, we were waiting outside upstream to get in, sounded horn, tried phoning them but no answer, eventualy someone wandered out and declared there was not water the other side and if we wanted to go through it would be at our own risk. We said yes we did it as it was 3hrs before HW london bridge and we wouldn't get into Limehouse before 6pm if we didn't go through now, the lockkeeper was very off with us. I didn't give him any abuse but I can understand why some might have.
