Richmond lock 29/07/2016.

In theory it is open 2 hours either side of high tide so for 4 hours from HWLB - 1 hour but in practice that seems to vary up to 30 minutes and I suspect it is worse on neaps then springs (very small sample size behind that judgement). It is very obvioius when the barrier is down as you see the standard LPA inverted triangles, I think it is £6 to go through the lock, man comes with a fishing net to collect the cash.

PLA 2016 tides states 29/07/2016
HW Richmond 22.29 GMT
23.29 BST
Barrier "should" rise at 21.29 BST. ?
In theory should have bit of twilight left.
If Teddington full to over flowing the next public moorings would be ????

Stevens Eyot, or opposite(outside the Boaters Inn). Failing that, left after Kingston railway bridge).
Both the Boaters moorings and Kingston are increasingly squatted on, but you should be able to get on at the Royal Palace mooring to the right of Kingston bridge.

Failing that, on the Surrey side between Turks and Ravens Ait.

Yes your theoretical barrier times are as I understand them. Someone mentioned to my wife that the barrier went up 25 minutes late, not sure if on Friday or Thursday morning. It was up and not dripping when we came through an hour before HW.

In case it helps this is what I saw at the weekend:

On Friday we got to Teddington about 1 hour before HW and there were a few moorings available which pleased the herd of greyhounds immensely. As people left for the tide downstream a lot of moorings became available so I would think you are quite safe coming later.

At Kingston we had to brest up to go to Waitrose but there were some moorings above the bridge on the north bank.

As we came up to Hampton Court there were frantic hand brake turns from 3 boats coming downstream scrambling for moorings. That scramble left at least 60' free (everything is judged by our length) and if boats were willing to move up there would have been room for at least two more boats. So actually not bad at all though this was mid day ish.

At Cookham there was a particularly unpleasant lady in a large Cruiser in the middle of a large space who refused to move along. At Marlow we were able to brest up to a narrowboat but only due to a Medway boat being helpful - their bridge was blocking us from getting back decks lined up so we could not get dogs off easily. After Cookham we did not even ask and were about to get guests off and go and find a field when they volunteered to move their boat by a few yards.

At Henley we got a mooring !!!!!!! for the week whilst we earn enough to keep up with our boating and greyhound habits. What a fantastic event, proper boat porn. I could not look after and so would not want to have some of the boats with all that wood but boy you can droll.

A delight on the eye but not the wallet. ?

More wallet draining than a pair of devil's egg-whisks...

Ooo...... steady on...:)
Just been observing a Targa 25 in boatyard across the river, there is of course a gaping hole where an outdrive should be...Still this glorious summer weather will be around for ages yet............
