Anyone heard of Vanguard ribs, the person selling says they are well known and often used
for racing and by the coastguard. Anyone know if theres any truth in that. 5.2m long
with Yamaha 75.

Clive ask these questions on Rib.net as most of these guys arent really RIB orientated.

If you want me to do it for you let me know.

Competing with ribnet

Ahem, scuse me Dom :)

Yes there are decent RIBs, very well known. Vanguard are subsidiary brand of Valiant - basically Valiant call their larger RIBs the Vanguard series. Have you seen it - it should have some Valiant badging too. I have owned a couple of smaller Valiants and I think they're excellent kit, well made. Made in Portugal. Valiant has now been acquired by the mighty Skokie boys Brunswick so the ribs are now often marketed as packages with Mercury motors.

The yamaha 75 isn't their greatest outboard. Yamaha make some fine engines, easily best in class at some hp levels, but the 75 is one of their older models. It has the very square cornered old style yam cowl. Might be ok as a school boat etc, but not as fab as the merc (at this hp rating) imho
