Knowing I have a boat and thus by association know everything about the value of boats someone has approached me with a view to valuing and possibly helping him sell a Ribeye 785 rib with Yamaha 250 outboard both from 2007. I know nothing about ribs and my views on boat values / their lack of transparency are well known.

It's a 2007, circa 200 hours, teak effect floor, good sized chart plotter, VHF, 2 jockey seats (2 person each one in front of the other), 3 rear seats.

Comes with Bramber road trailer which I believe was the one sold with it when new. I think I'm right in saying it's one owner from new. Kept undercover using a launch service whenever used.

So, what's it worth and are they any good or would the learned gathering suggest people buy something else ?

Thanks in advance. Feel free to PM me, particularly if you have specific knowledge of values (you've just sold or bought one and don't want to let the world know for how much but would be prepared to tell me on promise of silence).

Thanks in advance.

Henry :)

Looking at the ones for sale online, anything between £25k and £34k.

*lakesailored* lol.

There's a 785 with yammy 200 on eBay at the moment. 19995 or best offer. Hasn't sold yet. I would say put it up for 25 and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I can see what people are asking price-wise but as is always the case with boats I have absolutely no faith in how realistic they are. I don't have the confidence I would have in looking at car prices.

The one on ebay is quite different, of unknown age strange seating, smaller engine so I can see why it hasn't sold. Ideally I was hoping someone might have bought or sold one recently.

The last rib I followed in anger sold for half it's advertised price, to be fair another slightly odd-ball. I think this Ribeye is probably more of a known quantity as a model.

There is a similar one on the Ribeye website (2004) for £21,495. http://www.ribeye.co.uk/used-ribs

and one with a bigger engine (2012) for £62k

I had seen the first one already. A 2004 boat, smaller engine, , ex training school with unknown hours "but it must be a fair few". Some worn upholstery etc. etc.

This thing is in a very different league, a mate of mine used it last year and was amazed when he found out it was a 2007 boat, he assumed it was a couple of years old. It's just been serviced a week ago. I think Mr W is probably about right.

Yes, i agree. I think Whitelighter's first post on this subject is bang on the money after reading what i have about them. :encouragement:
