The thing about manufacturers specs is nobody knows how much thought went into it....they could have computer simulated it or even tank tested it or real world testing....most likely the real reason is they don’t want to take sales away from their next biggest boat in the range....but it doesn’t really matter because the real problem is that once they have written it down it’s as good as set in stone....not just insurance but any criminal investigation after an accident. Everyone here is erring on the cautious...and they are right to do so...and I’m glad you are going to do the same.....and I’m equally sure that not long from now you will own a boat that can take a lot more power...it’s in your natureAfter all the good advice on here I think I will stick with a 70 - 75 outboard
