Long story but in a nutshell following a tip-off this morning Jane and I found our stolen RIB and outboard dumped on the bank up at Hullbridge

With help from our friends at the marina we recovered the outboard to the car and then the RIB was rescued by the FYH dory

All we've lost its a pair of oars and a 5l fuel can!

(Our RIB, it seems, was stolen and used to gain access to a significant number of boats at Brandy Hole and Hullbridge in order to steal any valuables on board. The culprits were arrested last week otherwise presumably they'd have continued to use the RIB until they'd finished and then had it away)

well that is good news Bru.
are thwe scrotes being charged

No idea! The police didn't even bother to inform me that our RIB had been used in the robberies (which was common knowledge up Brandy Hole way although the folks up there had no way of knowing who's it was)

I don't know whether the police knew where it was, for that matter, and I wasn't inclined to spend hours in a call queue (your call is fourth in the queue!) to discuss our intention to retrieve it.

Are you going to paint boat name on RIB now to deter it happening again?

I have various nefarious anti-theft schemes in mind, that included :)

However, I don't think anything other than chaining the thing up would have deterred these particular thieves. Their primary aim in stealing it was to use it to commit other crimes and I don't think they'd have cared if it had been dayglo pink with "Erbas" writ large in purple letters down each side :D (although we might have got it back quicker if the folks up river had seen it looking like that!!!)

Hi Erbas

Glad to hear that you got it back. If you hadn't picked it up, it was about to be taken to Brandy Hole for safe keeping

That, had we not found it, would have been much appreciated thanks

Bizarre, where they left it but all's well that ends well

Just got to get the pressure washer out and clean it up a bit now (it was never a thing of beauty but there's a limit!!

Cheers
