rib custom cover, keep the water out

have had two ready made tie on covers, both now ripped
and they sag so the water still gets in

thinking of rods sewn into the cover, to keep it up and level, to keep the water / mud etc. out

any one done this ?

rods wide enough to rest on the sides, any suggestions to the spacing ?

anything else ?

I have a cover on my Ribeye, and use a Force 4 pole to raise the centre to stop the water pooling. It has plastic cups at both ends to spread the load. Works well.
