The guy who was gonna tow the rib out had problems, which resulted in his proposed trip getting delayed til Jan cos "the Bilbao ferry had no room for trailers til then? Eh, surely if you pay your money then trailer or car makes no difference?

Anyway got fed up and hired the services of a boat transporter, £1100 plus vat which I thought wasnt bad. So goes to my freindly Spanish Marina peeps and says can I book f**k lift truck for next Weds, and they say "is no possible as zee fork trunk drivers are all on holidays". What all the forkers I say, cant one of em come in for a hour "is no possible. guurrrrrrrrrrr

Well if the time waster had done the job that he never really intended to do we would all be smiling.

Some people should not offer their services if they arent capable of coming up with the goods when it matters.

I am not in the mood for being charitable to people who do not fulfill their promises and that also goes to THE BLOKE WHO IS CURRENTLY DOING MY ROOF IF YOU ARE READING THIS!!!!!

As for being charitable I have certainly made some nice donations this xmas so that people who deserve charity have a better time.

Rib arrived today at last, put her in the water, pumped up the tubes, 7 compartments (huff puff) started the engine, its huge........ V6 two stroke Mercruiser thingy 150hp. Couldnt go out marina as strong Levante blowin and no wet wever gear at the time.

Should be giving it a good thrashing on Friday will let you know how she goes.

Looks a bit tired, "but lick o paint here, lick o paint there" should improve matters.

got a blinding digital compass thingy though

I'm sure you know this but I believe caution is needed if you intend taking the RIB to Gibraltar. I seem to remember reading an article in (?)MBY, saying that the main use of RIBS in that part of the world is for the unofficial importation of duty free fags (and, erm, other substances) from Morocco (or p'raps the other way round; I can't remember) and that you need permission from the authorities to take one into Gib. Failure to do so may result in lots of 303 mm sized holes in your tubes, which will spoil your Christmas for sure.

Perhaps that's what did for Priddy?

)

Re:A proposal.

Tenner...reef thats about how much your ticket was I expect nah.........
Bit far just for a beer Fred, try to get to del sol next year and hopefully the weather will allow us a trip.

Tried the rib out today, first time I've helmed one, big grin factor. Oh except when Phil was helming and went into big turn at about 30knts aarhhhh..

Quite a swell which she handled well especially when swell following, returning into the wind and swell, not to much slamming, and pretty dry, considering still doin 20-25knts.

Reckon it'll be thirsty, no idea yet, anyone got an idea, V6 150hp two stroke, on 6.2m rib. I think we'll have some fun on xmas day with it/forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Yesterday twas blowing something awfull as the Easterlies were in, so didnt fancy going out. Just took the rib to the fuel birth ready for an opportunity over the holiday. Watched the breakers crashing on the beach and around the marina entrance and was glad of my decision to stay int marina.

Anyway, talk to Phil this morning and the cheeky beggar had sneaked the rib out in the afternoon, to see how she handled the ruff stuff.

I'm happy to say the report was very good, despite 1.5-2m seas she handled it fine, he only went out about 3/4 mile then turned and hit 30knts with the following sea brilliant. Happy Xmas everybody............./forums/images/icons/smile.gif
