I quite fancy a rib but know nothing about them.

I dont need a car anymore so i'm selling it and thought i might buy a rib with the money.

I have had tender size one before but fancy something with a trailer and a centre consul.
I would like to spend less than 10k for one. Its only really for a bit of fun towing toys and such like so don't want to spend loads so 5k ish would be nice anymore and i would have to put cash to it.

As for size i really have no idea? I could probably store one up to 6-7 meters but is there any reason to having a larger one?
Probably about 5 meter would be nice.

Engine size? I would like it to be good for 30+ knots what would i need to get one up to that?

So really have no idea if any of this if feasible?

all extremely possible. 50hp will start getting swift, and hence plonking 100hp on will make it scarily fast, and hence my choice would be about 250hp. Er well....

I would have thought you might find more info at a site such as ribnet, and probaly loads for sale. A near-new one that someone has got bored with etc could be a good deal

I think you are better going smaller than bigger

If you keep the size under 5 metres its much more manageable & you only need a small unbraked trailer

We had a Valiant 5.7 then a 6.2 c but that was starting to get a bit big for taking in and out every day - especially on your own in less than settled conditions.

We now have a 4.5 mtr Avon with a Mariner 60 (or you could go for the new Honda 60) and wonder why we went so big !

Its great for skiing, towing inflatables or just bombing about at up to 30 knots - also pretty light to handle on & off the trailer.

With the double jockey seats she has plenty of room aft for all the toys - the tank sits under the jockey seat and you can also get other stuff in there like flares, first aid kit, spare lines, paddles even a prop & tools.

But go for a jockey seat set up - we had the "med style" bench seats and centre console on the last RIBS and they just dont work as well - you end up standing all the time, using the wheel to keep your balance and trying to keep the windsreen away from your face !

A package like this can be had for just over 10k or a bit less if you go for something like a Valiant ... or a lot less if you go for something a couple of years old.

Just our experience others may disagree of course !

This might be a little more than you want!

Engine size? 3 x 350 = 1050 HP

A bit more than 5 meters! Try 40 foot!

It is a development boat which must be able to maintain a minimum speed of 40 knots in any sea state. Payload is over 5 tons and is also designed to be air transportable.

Fuel capacity - 1200 litres of um..... petrol!

Might be a bit of overkill for your requirements however. Plus I think it's probably going to cost you a bit more than £10K!

On a more serious note, send me a PM with your phone number and I'll be happy to chat through the options. There are many!
