review Azimut 58

Thanks PY. I looked at this boat in detail. Beautiful style and very smart contemporary interior. It feels great inside with the limed oak woodwork and contemporary materials, and the construction feels solid and high quality in nearly every respect. Really nice choice of mateirals (fabrics and wall-covering vinyls) inside. Only obvious let-down was screw heads showing around all the cabin door frames. It felt much more solid generally than say the 62s which felt a bit lightweight to me. Overall, the saloon deck is stunning, and the cabins are best in class for sure.

My reasons for not buying it were that they have created those great cabins and saloon by making too big sacrifices elsewhere. There is no utility/laundry room at all, and the optional crew cabin aft is tiny. And no internal stairs. Many owners wouldn't care about these things of course

The flybridge is a disappointment - you can still have a better lunch party for 8-10 people on a 2001-designed Sq58. and the upper helm (left hand drive) is pretty awful, average ergonomics, horrid seat (just a block of foam...) , as usual with Italian boats. And the flybridge isn't flat - there is a big step in the deck halfway along, yuk.

It also has strangely small water tank - 600litres

I'd like the Azi58 interior, Azi exterior lines, with an interior staircase and a smaller Azi owners cabin with utility room, and the Sq58 flybridge bolted on top. For less than £1m. Unfortunately I can't have it :-)

there is not much full beam owners cabin with 3 heads
infact the ones giving this are the Aicon 58 also used to be so the 56, and the Uniesse 58
this last one might be the best boat in its class for sea keeping and quality built...

Yeah but the Azi has galley up like the Aicon, so they made the room for a third heads, which would be a big plus IMO if you regulary have three couples on board, or want to charter it.

seeing the plans is not that easy to do this
I am sure they had to add beam surely and may be also a bit of length, and review the staircase from main to lower deck
and then I think the 58 would still have stolen too much customers to the 62 Evolution so would had been really worth it for them...

but you are right the Aicon 56 main selling point was always the better price to the 55 and third head, altough price difference decreased in time
