An item on the news I heard on the way home cited Bob Geldorf suggesting that yachtsmen should sail across to France and bring back a Frenchman for some protest. Robin Knox Johnson was quoted as saying that people shouldn't be encouraged to sail to France as it would be very dangerous if 'They didn't know the rules'...

Now come on. Be fair to the French. William wasn't French at all, he was Norman. The Normans were essentially a bunch of Vikings who got chucked out of decent Viking society for undue violence and excessive pillaging. Not that Blackbeard is in a position to criticise in this respect ...
