Reverend Ankers

Two chaps used to work for me, one called Richard Head, were his parents mad??the other Ian Hunt, affectionately called Issaac by all and sundry. Both are still in the city making fortunes!!
 
Just received a listing of boats from a broker signing as "Ali Barber". And we have a firm of estate agents round here called "Crook and Blight".
 
I Know a fellow called Jimmy Riddle & used to sell to a buyer from one of our penal institutions called Mrs. Crook.

My brother just reminded me about my mother who had a West Indian pupil in her class called Dick Everard (in time honoured style the attendance register was read out Surname first).
She metioned the name to his mother and asked her why she hadn't registered him for school as Richard. It turned out he was christened Dick.
 
When the London 'phonebook was only two volumes (A-K & L-Z) there was a number for a lady in the East End as follows:
