Rev counter for Sole diesel

I am new on this forum,and looking for some information on fitting a rev counter on a Sole Mini 29. I have just got the boat and some things need doing as it has been standing around for a while.I am a mechanic but don't want to carry out any work without being sure of what I am doing.
So I would appreciate any help.

If it has an alternator with a pick up you could use that with a VDO tacho.

Or if the engine has a shaft that turns with the engine that's external you could use a sender from VDO to drive the taco , take a look on VDO website there are many ways of doing this.
