Returning to the Coast

But with a Fly, you are at the mercy of the tides at Foulkes, which is why it is cheaper than the marinas south of the A27 bridge.

I can get in or out any time on neaps and have only to avoid the top two hours of higher Springs above 4.4m - I pull a 4m air draft radar arch down. Oh yes I do have to do that task which is 10 secs of inconvenience each time in or out above half tide, but then I am being effectively paid £4k per year to do this.

Also its not all about bridges - my pal at Mercury with a Princess 42 is also at the mercy of the tides and cannot attempt a safe berthing when mid tide especially on Springs.

Agreed you have to plan around the bridge but I have got used to squeezing under bridges on the Thames so we won't have too much problem other than at the top of springs. I have removed the bomber mast and replaced it with something more easily lowered so my air height is under 4m. This is a high bridge!
