Well the starter motor from my 4 cylinder lister is back from its second trip to Lucas to get repaired. Next step is to fit.. Any tips? I know you're not supposed to lubricate the pinion.. and to make sure the live cable is isolated from the casing.. but anything else I ougfht to do?

Should I take off one of the injectors and crank it a moment to expell any air in the fuel line? I am a complete novice when it comes to engines so treat me gently!

Regards,

Nick

I forgot to mention that the return fuel pipe manages to disconnect itself while I was messing about in the bottom of the boat.. was concerned air could have crept in...

It does not matter if theres air in the return pipe. Just fit the starter motor and go for it.
