Restoring a Spey class Ketch

Our record was 11 people for a curry dinner in the saloon at the Tarbert Music Festival about 15 years ago. V. cozy but a lot of fun and a lot of empties!

On the subject of deck space, the lack of it was an issue, so I shortened the rear coachroof by about 18"to make the stern deck bigger and put on an outside steering position and two large boxes as seats and storage for warps etc. A bit drastic but very worthwhile and not too serious for the rear cabin. Perfect for G&T for six or more. Still can't paste a photo onto this. How? Having two-station steering is a joy.

I have just found this forum, and as an ex employee of Jones of Buckie and now owner of Spey Breeze am excited to see lambley lass is still on the go,I have many happy memories on her when she was at Bucki e 1977

Hi Louie,

I bought Lambley Lass in October 1995 and we visited Buckie in 1997, could have been 1998. She lives on the south coast now, still has her original Gardner 4LK but has a more modern rig so sails much better than she did. Still a labour of love but I wouldn’t part with her.

James.

Hi all,
had a visit from a guy looking for any informaton on Spey Rebeca.
I am nearing to completion of renovating Spey Breeze, she is a lovely ship I would love more information about her,

We are the proud owners of a 1960 built Spey class Ketch called "White Spey"
We took possession of the boat 18 months go and have spent hundreds of hours restoring her and now are happily moored in Kas on the Turkish South Coast.
We have managed to restore this wonderful craft with its original Lister diesel and all the original fittings.
We have reached a point when we would love to refit the original roller reef system to the Fore sail.
We have found an original system in the many spares but have no knowledge as to how it operates and fitted .
I have difficulty in posting photos on this sitr but can send via e.mail

Thanks
