Restaurants in Lymington

Anyone have any recommendations for a good restaurant in Lymington. Group of 10 people coming off the water.

Park at the Dan Bran pontoon and go to Lyminton Town Sailing Club.

The Mayflower, just behind the sailing clubs and RNLI station, is very good. Never had a bad meal there yet in 8 + yrs of dining there. Well worth booking though to see if they can get 10 on a table. Big garden as well with BBQ in summer.

Eaten in Lymington twice in last ten days: Kings whatever not bad pub food: Lal Quilla fairly good Indian. I'll try Mayflower in a week or two!

It's a while since we tried it, but the Indian place about one third of the way up the main street on the right was always excellent, way above average fare.

As one who lives there could I pitch in?

Bugger off and leave the place to us locals, it's too busy already

All of the places mentioned are generally OK but all have their good and bad days.

You might also like to consider Egans where both food and service are usually very good, at the high end of the price bracket.

That's the Lal Quilla, Was last there last year sometime and it was good then ...

Egans is by far the best restaurant in Lymington; the others mentioned do not compare. Its not the place for a cheap meal but if you decide to go you will need to book aheadand be prepared for £40+ a head.

Other than than that you will get a decent meal at LTSC

Egans was our favourite if funds allowed, otherwise our on board option was to buy a cooked lobster from Seafayre at the bottom of Quay Hill and do a DIY special meal with a simple salad. We would buy either one biggish one and share it or two mediums for about the same price, around £24 IIRC. Usual ploy was to call Seafayre on friday afternoons on our way to Lymington from Poole and reserve our lobster for collection when they open on Saturday morning. Seafayre have their own fishing boat and obviously availability varies, first come first serve but the fall back is they always had excellent xcabs also and under half the lobster prices.

Other option with a pleasant walk there/back is Chequers at Lower Pennington, out past RLYC and the Mayflower and turn left. It used to be excellent but last time we were there was not as good but that was two years back now.

The problem with Egans is that you might find ChrisE in there, guffawing away - but if MrsE is with him, she will improve the atmosphere and scenery no end.

The Angel just past Tesco's up the High St was completely renovated last year, and is very good for pub grub standard food.

Drop into the marina office at Berthon and you will get more personal advice

Went there a couple of weeks ago with a friend who had been before and recommended it. It did not disappoint. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. (though this was a lunch time on a Tuesday!)

We have used the Kings Head quite regularly over a number of years. Last year and this year and they really seemed to have moved themselves up to one of the best eating pubs in the area - try the C.O.D., basically a fry up with a difference served in a cast iron skillet.

On the other hand Ask, the Italian restaurant, which was another favourite of ours has gone downhill rapidly and now not worth a visit - disinterested staff, lukewarm food and specials not available or even tuna to go on a pizza on a quiet Saturday night. The fact that it was quiet should have been a clue, it was always busy before.

The chap I went with had previously had the C.O.D. and had fond memories so ordered it again. It looked delicious and he was thoroughly pleased with it.
In fact, I think we may be going there tonight. Think I may be ordering this myself.
