Have sent a couple of emails to Simon ref a quote for standing rigging after speaking to him at the yard a while back but...no response
Should I forget it and use Dave at DRS?
This website has the mobile number I had for Simon on it - http://www.responserigging.com/
Patrick,
I had my rigging replaced in 2005 and then broke an inner shroud in both 2006 and 2007 crossing the Atlantic so in each year replaced all my rigging. After the 2007 breakage I took all my rigging to TCS in Southend and had them have a complete new set made up. Not only was it cheaper than the professional riggers that visit your boat, it has lasted through the Jester Challenge 2010 to the US and also this year the Jester Challenge to the Azores. So I can't complain about their quality. I did have a broken bottle screw on my forestay when I arrived in the Azores this year but the rigging is holding up superbly.
Of course unlike a visiting rigger they can only copy a pattern by you providing your old rigging and that could be an issue if you are missing bits. One of the yacht databases will probably have the Itchen Ferry listed however with all the rigging sizes.
No, not so good on canoeing. He actually got stuck near Marlborough when the bottom of the canoe dropped out, because he dragged it round the Kennet and Avon's locks!
I was the idiot that brought him his bicycle from Essex so he could finish his journey. No Glasto this year, so I haven't seen him either.
who done the 05 & 07 rig.
