Anybody able to suggest where I can beg, steal, trade or even buy one? I've been told that they are no longer available from MLR.

MLR were bought out by Magellan and thus no longer exist. I think you would have a better chance of sourcing an external antenna in France where someone might still have old stock.

Do you need one? I've got an MLR SP24 and it works OK down below. It seems to pick up through the GRP reasonably well, though it is better in the cockpit.

Joe. The boat is wooden and the MLR24 doesn't like working down below. It is only a backup anyway. I'll take Oldhand's suggestion and try to source one in France. I'm going there next week. Thanks, guys, for the input
