At a meeting last night of East Devon District Council's corporate overview committee members recommended that Sid and Alma, the two dummies which collect for the Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat, be allowed to stay in situ as an exception to the by-law. The decision follows outrage in the town after a Sidmouth resident had complained that they broke the law by being continuously collecting monies when other charities are allowed to do so on one day a year only.
A full council decision is expected in April, but it seems likely they will approve the recommendation.

Sounds like common sense prevailed. Thats unusual these days /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
