Why do some people (not just on this forum) reply to posts containing multiple photographs without removing the latter from their 'Replies with Quote'?

Surely one can edit the response to make a point without wasting resources and making threads more difficult to read.

Is it ignorance of how to do it, a 'couldn't care less' approach (I won't offer the vulgar vernacular for that) or something else?

Right then. Please explain how to do it. I quite agree, if I'm on a lousy phone signal it's a pain.

Just delete the tags in the quoted post.

One ought to be snipping quoted material down to only the part being replied to anyway - but a bit of unnecessary text is less annoying than a dozen large photos.

You are stressed my dear chap. There are far more important things to worry about. Can I suggest a beer or perhaps a brandy of respectable quality. While people are arguing that wind farms are green, the use of resources consumed by copying photos on t'net pails into insignificance.

+1

This type of complaint will become the 21st century version of grammar and spelling anoraks.

That didn't seem particularly helpful.

You are of course quite correct.

Sorry, was checking in with PBO to see what else I can clean with my Patio Magic this weekend and attempted to add humour to this whinge up thread - a mistake by the looks of things!

You could change your settings to not display images. It's not only the ones in quotes that are superfluous.

Not at all, my dear sir, not at all. I'm suitably mellow after a couple of glasses of red wine (though I also like a beer and a brandy occasionally - Armagnac for preference). Nor am I being (particularly) a tree hugger. It's just darned inconvenient to have to wade through repeated piccies (in particular), especially if your bandwidth is limited -as NormanS has already indicated. Your very good health!

Talk of wasted resources and bandwidth are a red herring, since your browser won't download the same photos twice. Once it's already on the page any further repeats will take up space only on the screen, not on the network.
