A nicely tailored wraparound canvas sleeve with a Velcro closure would look tiddly.

Might trap water, maybe interfere with/be damaged by the sheets since it'll be fairly high friction, plus I'm not sure I do "nicely tailored",

I’m not sure what the “cascade” that is contrasted grahically with lashings is, but perhaps a multi-part tackle, which would have lower friction losses, explaining its roughly linear increase in effective tension with number of parts, unlike the lashings which flatten out after 4-5 legs
