Replacing the steering wheel on a Princess 388 Flybridge

thanks guys, looks like its gonna be a mate with a hammer and some brute force coming up - may film it in case it all goes wrong, at least i can get £200 from some tv programme!!...do like some of those wheels on timage!!

Use the hammer as a last resort. If it's tapered, and they usually are try walking it off first. Eat your weetabix for breakfast and give it a bash. I had this discussion last year. Took me under 3 minutes to prove a point on a steering wheel that had been on for 26 years

Replaced identical wheel on my P35 recently, definately splined but cannot remember if tapered.Came off with gentle tap with rubber mallet.Changed simply cos it looked a bit tatty.
Wanted to replace it with a flash posh modern one.
New one looked really cool.
Put old one back on a few weeks later , new one never felt right and always seemed to end up off line when going dead ahead.
Any replacement for my wheel next time would definately be a multispoke stainless destroyer type wheel out of preference.

Just watch for proximities of spokes to legs and even more precious body parts if sitting near it
A spinning spoked wheel can cause much pain

I have ordered the wheel on the second pic from Timage - I see that it as the Sunseeker logo in the middle - do they do bespoke centers for different makes of boat?

No...it comes plain. I had the Sunseeker logo made up and stuck it on.

Thanks Greg. I’m pleased with it. Vinyl cut decal so a little tricky to apply accurately on a circle but the centre boss comes off so I could do it on a table

With hindsight wish I had ordered the plain centre so I could have done similar. Mine will have the wheel manufacturers logo...
