Replacing teak decking

I am looking at removing teak side decks and replacing with non slip paint treatment. Relatively straightforward you would think but......I have however been advised that on Apreamare boats there is no fibreglass structure under the side deck. Just teak decking fixed on marine ply on stringers. Therefore the whole lot probably needs replacing. I’m now a bit wary (Toy say the least!) of exposing to check what’s needed! Has anyone else come across this issue And/or have any advice?

I don't know the boat model but I would try and get a look at the undersides in a locker or from the bilges etc. probably stick a phone or a go pro in there looking for ply on the underside,
if it is ply the fix you propose probably won't work as the deck will be stuck to the ply....Also bear in mind that teak deck over ply is a design feature and part of the water proofing if you removed one layer and left painted ply you are reducing the build spec and also the water resistant capability.

Mapism of this parish did it - but he did have fibreglass underneath.
