The plastic through-hull depth transducer has packed up on our Sadler 34. I have a sourced a replacement, but now face a choice - remove the old one or drill another hole through the hull. The old one's been in since new (15 years) - will a few sharp taps using a suitable drift dislodge it, or will I end up with a leaking mess? Views and experiences welcome.

My previous boat a Sigma 33 had the original B & G instruments, and a transducer that looked welded into the hull. A sharp knock and out it came for the new transducer. Had it done professionally, and he said it would be no problem.

Block of wood and big hammer, then a deep breath and with the nut almost completely off give it a good whack, may take a few blows, but should come out no roblem.

You might want to think about taking the boat out of the water first /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
