Replacing Seacocks tomorrow...

Regardless of the engineering and science, plastic is naff compared to titanium!

Titanium, salt water and electricity? Sounds like a great recipe for a disappearing act to me. Plastic may not look the dogs, but anyone keen on inspecting my underwater fittings, is always going to be disappointed. Sorry :ambivalence:

I don't agree that part of your analysis but agree the rest!

I was so engrossed in arguing with you yesterday afternoon over possible boats sinking once every 20 years
I didnt realize the houses around me were been evacuated as they were in danger of sinking too !
Hence late response, ( I decided to fill a few sand bags ).

We know your seacock sits a long way from your engine nobility.
I assume you have anodes inside your engine which has an even further gap regards the noble properties.

I assume but could be wrong that your raw water hose is reinforced with wire/stainless steel.

If you take your hose off you will find the end is very sharp ,
this end will bond with the seacock.
teh other end will bond to teh engine (unless you have plastic strainers, but mine are metal).

Hence you have connected your submerged bronze seacock to your engine and all the soft bits .
assuming your engine has a pencil anode then the pencil anode will protect your bronze seacock until it wastes away
BUT a quality bronze seacock doesnt need protecting, your engine does though .
