As to replace or re-use, that depends on how far you have to swim to get to get replacement (a decent motor factor). If you don't have to swim then replace it - cost is peanuts. You will only find out if it's leaking when you fill the tank with diesel. :)
Absolutely. Don't really understand the debate. Unless you are stuck in the middle of the ocean, trying to make emergency repairs, just get a new one. Probably costs less than the energy required to heat up the old one. Sheeezz!

Hot tip ( forgive pun ) I discovered, don't grasp it in pliers or the like as they'll act as a heat sink. Hang it from a big nail and grasp that, the heat stays on the washer.
