After removing and replacing the inside plastic trim a few (no more than 3) times, it has started to disintegrate. It's about 20 years old so I suspect UV damage or cack-handedness. The trim must be removed to remove headlining panels.
The hatch is a Moonlight 62/63 series, 500 by 370 mm I think 62-/63-series rectangular R42.5 - BSI Group .
The trim is a short rectangular tube of plastic with a flange on the bottom end to cover the joint with the headlining. The plastic material is about 2mm thick and fits into a narrow slot on the underside of the body of the hatch. The corners of the tube are radiused, about 10mm.
I was thinking of replacing this with a two-piece assemly. One piece is the body of the tube using flexible plastic sheet. The flange could be a flexible hockeystick or L extrusion. I have been told that this must all be in white.
My problems are:
Is this a sensible solution or is there a better way?
What material should I be looking for the parts to be mde from?
Where can I get these in suitable quantity, including a bit extra for practice?
In case it makes a difference, the hatch is I think original fit to a Nordship 35 DS from 2000.
