Replacing headlining...Uuurgh!

What materials? Need to get on with mine so any tips would be gratefully received :)

Sorry, I missed this until now.

After getting samples from everywhere, I got my vinyl and glue from Boyriven's extensive range. Much nicer looking and feeling than any of the other suppliers' stuff. They do have a minimum order value though which may prevent an order for a modest project being made. We were well over it as we did headlinings, upholstery including foam, and everything else at once.

People tend to to stroke the headlinings when they come on board for the first time. :D

That looks the greyhound's gonads. Well done sir!

A gigantic amount of effort is needed to get to where you are now...
Hats off all round.

I am replacing my vinyl interior slowly, but I decided to line the hull / coachroof with 6mm closed cell foam, prior to panels or vinyl.
It cuts down noise, heat loss and light. Having done the coach roof - and replaced the ceiling panels with new ply, the whole interior is appreciably cosier. (Hawke house foam - self adhesive one side.. they make double sided but that I think would be scary to handle!)

For a thinner and easier to stretch round the curves pre-lining foam, a 3mm self adhesive black closed cell foam laminate flooring underlay is available from DIY places. A £40 roll did our entire 26 footer and was able to follow the internal shape in a way that thicker stuff wouldn't.

As above, the hull now has greatly reduced noise and heat and zero light transmission.

They're burried amongst many others, but a good few photos if our headlinings, before, during and after, are here... http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v249/syllogismcheck/Trifle%20an%20Evolution%2025/?albumview=slideshow

This thread is an inspiration. All through last winter I spent one night per week aboard my completely uninsulated small boat. Thanks to you guys my brain is ticking...

Thanks for the stories and pictures...needed some moral support! But anyway, after 5 solid days of faff, there has been a bit of a transformation...
