Replacing Foam Backed PVC Side Lining - Alternatives, Suggestions?

I need to replace the foam backed PVC side lining on my Leisure 18.
Has anyone tried removing the old stuff, cleaning up the surface and just painting the inside of the hull?

I reckon you'll find it difficult to remove the old stuff thoroughly enough to leave a decent clean surface for painting. Probably better to replace with vinyl.

That would be cold and cause condensation.
I stripped and cleaned, then glued on carpet - - - warm, and I now hoover the walls!

If the vinyl is in good condition then Hawkhouse sell pre-glued sheets of foam to replace the perished backing, that's what I'm planning, once the weather warms up a bit.

That's similar to what I did with my Hurley 18. Used cheapo carpet tiles and B&Q no nails equivalent glue to stick it on. Works a treat as an insulator, was easy to do and looks good. Carpet tiles are a good size to work with and easy to cut with heavy duty scissors.

I'm looking at using vinyl floor covering on a boat I an renovation for wall covering. My main boat I used formica on ply panels before fitting but the boat I am renovation has ply panels already fitted so formica would be a pita.

Scrape the foam remnants from the vinyl & re-bond it to new foam? Then refit? Would be guaranteed a good fit, as already the right shape.
I wonder if you could paint the scraped foam surface with adhesive to prime/bind any residual foam. Then apply the adhesive for the new foam backing? Hmm.
Can this be done?
