We have an old Furano radar fitted to our Oyster 406. I suspect it was fitted from new so it is 25+ years old. The dedicated green screen is at the chart table, which isn't too useful as we normally sail two-handed, and although it is working, I suspect it is coming towards the end of its working life. I have a Lowrance HDS-8m Gen 2 chart plotter under the spray hood, which would interface with a Lowrance 3g scanner. How difficult is it likely to be to replace the Furano scanner with the Lowrance - will I need a new mounting bracket, or would it be possible to make an adaptor plate? I'm sure I can't be the first to have done this - any one any experience of this?

Thanks

Neil

Should be straightforward. I had an adaptor plate made up from a sheet of aluminium that accommodated the new scanner. The old scanner cable can act as a pull through for the new one. eBay the old furuno system to offset the cost of your new dome. :encouragement:
