I've got one of these made by Raritan:

Or rather a similar model that's about 27 years old. It's sprung a small leak inside and I reckon it's time to replace it. Interestingly their site mentions that it has its own sacrificial anode which should have been checked annually, but I doubt that's ever been done, and no-one ever told me about it!

It's American, has to be shipped over, and is a bit pricey. Can anyone suggest a cheaper alternative? It uses 240V when ashore and has a heat exchanger connected to a petrol engine so it has to be ignition protected.

Current dimensions: 18" dia., 17" tall, 12 galls. But I wouldn't mind something smaller, perhaps 6 galls.

Anyone able to advise?

Pretty please? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My 4 year old aluminium tank had 22 pin-hole leaks so I've just fitted a C-Warm from Cleghorn Waring the Jabsco agents. Many different sizes and you can choose the wattage of the immersion heater as well. Its a copper tank with sprayed-on insulation.

Bought one at Earls Court from Penguin Engineering, with a healthy boat show discount which covered the recent price hikes due to the cost of copper. Sizes - 22, 30, 45 & 60 ltr. They also supply pipe fittings, taps, etc. www.penguineng.com
