Boat on the hard. Unfortunately, the windex became detached in one of the storms and slid up to the top of the whip antenna, which then snapped off.

Without going to the top of the mast (not likely in this wind!), I don't know the make of the antenna/windex combo, so was wondering if anyone else has had to replace theirs and whether it will be possible to get another whip/windex that I can just plug into the top?

The thought of the alternative, running a new antenna cable, doesn't fill me with joy.

Any advice much appreciated, thanks!

Get a Vitronix, go up the mast, cut the old cable at the top, strip the end, wind the wires around each other, some tape etc. then gently pull the new wire at the base until the new one appears, easy peasy. Swmb went up last year, i stayed at the bottom. Took about an hour in all.

Thanks Stu (and Ruffles). I was trying to avoid the total replacement, as this will mean taking the headlining down and routing the new cable behind the chart table, instruments, etc.

Ah well, hopefully the replacement will last a good long time...

Mine goes thru a deck connector to a joiner just underneath the deck in between the inner shell and deck. Bnes are wonderful, a little panel with four screws allows access.
