Friend has a Regal 2250 and wants to replace the cockpit carpet with an alternative waterproof carpet (I have tried to tell him to get 3M Spaghetti String like I have, but he's having none of it).

Any idea of a UK / IRL supplier that will ship? Ideally looking for dark Grey / Charcoal colour, I haven't measured but approx 9' x 8' to be safe.

I used to have the spaghetti string on the T30 and thought it was OK.

How about that teak carpet stuff for your mate?

I *LOVE* Spaghetti String, I wouldn't be without it (and any boat I have in the future will have it) for the cockpit.

Friend wants a dark'ish colour (Current one is a shade of grey... what's left of it) - For good reason. We cruise on a fresh water lake which involves treks on islands etc. = mucky on return and easily gets dirty. He wants to be able to take the carpet out and wash it easily. The reason he won't do Spaghetti String is because he can't just wash it in situ as the cockpit drains into the bilge (silly!) - The reason I love Spaghetti String is that I *can* wash it in situ and the dirt just goes down and out the drain.

I'm tempted to tell him to just use cheap 'corded' carpet and replace it every so often. However, I think the backing on this won't last any length, and that's the whole issue with the current carpet... the backing is knackered and makes a mess of the gelcoat.

I just had a Eureka moment after talking with someone.

You can get Spaghetti String WITH backing (mine doesn't, so I can just wash through). So, when he's done for the day, he can remote it, wash it down and put it back in the boat (dirt will collect on it) and it'll be dry when he comes back to the boat next time.
